Kerikeri

The newcomer to Kerikeri will often ask, what is it about Kerikeri? Why are people attracted to this town? What do people do and how do they make a living?

So the answer to these questions is something we in Real Estate give much consideration.

Kerikeri it is a unique place, it is lush and green, it has many mature trees and a definite tropical feel combined with historic permanence. Another observation is how busy the town is with the new 'one way' system, great shops, cafes and a feeling of affluence.

Kerikeri is a pretty little town and it does have the 'wow' factor. The standard of schools and the academic achievement is high, there are good choices with four primary schools and two high schools.

One of the most compelling attractions of Kerikeri is its access to the Bay of Islands with the Yacht Club and Marina with boat launching facilities. Kerikeri does rival Paihia and Russell as an alternate gateway to the Bay of Islands.

In answer to what do people do? Traditionally horticulture, mainly citrus and kiwifruit, but over the last decade the horticulture industry has downsized. It is a world wide trend that people like to live where citrus grows. It requires a temperate climate and we enjoy the same conditions. So consequently most major citrus growing areas suffer urban encroachment by retirement and lifestyle cultures.

The largest contributor to our local economy is the building industry and its related trades. With the current growth being experienced in Kerikeri this is likely to continue. Many Kerikeri residents have traveled extensively so it has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere.

I conclude, if you already live in Kerikeri, congratulations and if you are thinking of moving here, well done.

Come and see us at Real. We are a friendly bunch and would love to be able to help you.
